Push scooters were invented in Germany in 1817. In the United States, scooters first enjoyed wide popularity during the Great Depression when many children built their own scooters from recycled wood. Scooters had a main surge of popularity in the 1950s.
In Europe, steel scooter with two small pneumatic wheels had been the most useful vehicle for children before bicycles became widely popular in 1960s. Our folding push scooter comes from 1950s and was manufactured in Germany. Rubber tires are made by BARUM co. which was created as a subsidiary of the BATA co. in Czechoslovakia and lost its identity in 1966. Handlebars are covered with solid thick natural rubber. Folding system and manual brake are fully functional. Overall, this almost 70 years old push folding scooter is in a great condition with some rust on a metal deck.
