Back in 1960s in central Europe, shops were divided by their content- you got meat and fish at a local butcher, bread and pastries at bakeries, dairy products and eggs at “Milk Bar” shops, alcohol in pubs or small liqueur stores, fruit and veggies at early morning open air markets…There were no large supermarkets and therefore no need for large shopping carts.

Small handy shopping baskets were popular in these small stores. Baskets were made of a combination of thin metal construction covered with colored natural rubber. Light in weight, shopping baskets were fun and colorful and could be a great interior accessories nowadays.
