ORIGINALS MATTER! are a new series where we are going to feature and highlight designers and industry professionals that have shaped our favorite design mid-century era!
To celebrate #InternationalWomensDay, let’s start by introducing the Swedish architect, interior designer, and furniture designer, Greta Magnusson-Grossman;
She was one of the few female designers to gain prominence during the mid-20th century architectural LA scene. In 1933, she won the Furniture Design award from the Swedish Society of Industrial Design, becoming the first woman to win this award! Her early exposure to European Modernism deeply influenced her later architectural work, seen as a synthesis of European ideals and the culture and lifestyle of Southern California.
