Ingmar Anton Relling (1920- 2002) was an impassioned furniture designer who is considered to be one of the greatest contributors to the Scandinavian Design. Relling’s uncompromising attention to quality, minimalism and simplicity is elegantly translated through all his designs.
Relling opened his own practice in 1950 and he designed his greatest creation in 1965: the Siesta chair. This iconic lounge sling chair has been a long time favourite for design enthusiasts as it won Classic Award for Design Excellence. Siesta’s manufacturer Westnofa went out of business (chair disappeared from the market) but later it resurrected in its current form by Norwegian manufacturer L.K.Hjelle.
Relling was the recipient of many awards and accolades, including the Jacob Prize in 1978 and the King’s Medal of Merit in 1999, among others. We are lucky to be owners of one of his originals!
